Why what you drink when matters

Why what you drink when matters - MINTU Shop

We should all drink enough – this piece of wisdom is familiar to everyone. The figure of 1.5 liters a day persists stubbornly – well: if you are 1.95 m tall and weigh 100 kg, you already need at least 3 liters of fluid. So it is merely an average guide value that can change considerably with body weight and height. During physical activity and in summer, when you sweat a lot, you also need a multiple of the guide value.

We also know from the research and from surveys that many people simply do not feel like drinking only water. People have developed more and more of an "appetite for enjoyment" – everything has to taste delicious. In doing so we intuitively prefer sweet things – which, as we know, can backfire, or rather flatter the hips with too much of a good thing. So what should I ideally do? If I am not doing any sport, water or sugar-free herbal tea can be my faithful companion – happily enriched with a slice of ginger or lemon. That always works. For active people, a balanced electrolyte balance plays a particularly important role: electrolytes such as potassium and magnesium are lost through sweat. Magnesium contributes to the electrolyte balance, to normal muscle function and to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue; potassium likewise contributes to normal muscle function. This applies to everyone who likes to move: whether in the gym, on a mountain tour or at an Ironman, always replenish your electrolytes quickly. That is what we developed our magnesium complexes for. It is best to drink them during physical activity.

After sport, protein is the topic: protein contributes to the maintenance and to a growth in muscle mass. Mix your protein shake with a little more water so that you also hydrate sufficiently. Our fat metabolism coffee goes particularly well with it afterwards. In summer, also make sure you take in enough salt – sodium and chloride, both important electrolytes, are lost quickly during sport, so eat something saltier after sweating heavily.

Did you know that our magnesium is also excellent as an electrolyte-rich refreshing drink after a sauna session?

Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
